Today’s Sponsored Streamer interview features ILxDOTTORE, one of the most active members of our TRUfam!
“Doc” is currently the #3 most active community member in TRU, and has recently been hired on as our official full-time streamer here in the TRUoffice. He is constantly chatting with community members, and was even voted to be a “TRU Judge” by community members last year.
This interview was conducted by TRU GreenChord
GreenChord: Hey Doc, thanks for participating in this interview with us! We’re pumped to learn about what kind of experience you’ve had with your streaming career, and any advice you might have.
Doc: Thanks for having me bro. I’m excited to share some information about myself with the TRUfam!
GreenChord: So, what made you want to start streaming? Also, what platforms do you focus on now as opposed to when you started?
Doc: I started streaming when I found out that my Aunt was diagnosed with Cancer. I had been watching streamers on Twitch for months and I have always loved Video Games; so when I found out my Aunt had Cancer and couldn’t afford any treatments, I decided to stream and see if I could use my hobby to raise some money for her. When I first started streaming, I was exclusively streaming PS4 games. I have since branched out and started to stream a few PC games as well.
GreenChord: What, if anything, do you feel has been key to your success on your streaming platform so far? This could be things like social media involvement, personality development on-stream, giveaways, communities, consistency, etc.
Doc: The biggest things that can help any stream grow is to set a Stream Schedule, network with Streaming Organizations / other Streamers, and to try and keep your chat entertained. Twitter has also helped me gain quite a few followers and regulars.
GreenChord: Have you had any difficult seasons/experiences in your stream history? How did you overcome them?
Doc: I believe my biggest difficulty has been the fact that I have had to take a few breaks for family and personal reasons. Taking a break from your stream can people to lose interest, especially when you used to stick to a schedule. The only thing you can really do is come back and work hard to get back in the groove. That’s what I am trying to do now. Not exactly the easiest when you just got engaged and now have to plan a wedding though, lol.
GreenChord: What would be your biggest piece of advice for a newer streamer looking to find success, get sponsored, etc?
Doc: The best advice that I can give to a new streamer, or someone who is looking to grow, is to set a schedule and stick to it. Make friends and stream with them, set up events or giveaways. Always be sure to utilize social media to let as many people as possible know that you are live. Don’t focus on sponsorships; focus on having fun and growing your viewership with like-minded people. The sponsorships will come later.
GreenChord: Is there anything else you would like to discuss about your stream/let readers know about?
Doc: I have been keeping this under wraps, but I have a lot of things planned for the next few months. I finally got engaged and got back from my vacation, so now I can focus on my stream and the TRUgaming Community again. An updated schedule will be coming in a week or so and I have some stream events planned. Stay tuned TRUfam <3
